1. Japanese scientists may be able to record your dreams

A Japanese research team has invented a technology that could eventually be used to record thoughts and dreams within the human brain and display them on a screen.

The researchers were able to visualise what people see directly from their brain activity.

It works because when people look at an object, the eye's retina recognises an image that is converted into electrical signals before going into the brain's visual cortex. The technology can then process the electrical signals from thoughts and dreams, and reproduce the image.

2. Algae - the slimy scum that could end the fuel crisis

It's green, slimy and one of the simplest organisms on the planet, but it could hold the key to the impending global fuel crisis.

Some industry experts describe "algae-oil" as one answer to the fuel crisis. They believe that it could cost less than oil, and also be completely carbon neutral. The process of creating oil naturally over millions of years is now a thing of the past. Scientists have recently shown that they can speed up the process so that it now takes just weeks.

3. GDrive - Google's latest product could replace the PC

The Google drive (GDrive) could make the PC redundant.

Google, continuing their concept called "cloud computing" where everything is stored on the web rather than a hard drive, is set to launch their new service in early 2009.

The GDrive would enable people to access their information such as emails, photos, documents, music, etc from any device with an internet connection.
