Understanding your website traffic

Term What it means
Hits
(green)
A request for a file from the web server. This is the total number of file requests for the website. For example, one visitor viewing the Drawstring homepage accounts for around 20 hits.
Files
(dark blue)
Each successful request for any file is counted as a file.
Pages
(light blue)
Displays the total number of pages viewed by all visitors to the website
Visits
(yellow)
Displays the number of visitors to the website.
Sites
(orange)
The total number of unique visitors to the website. This differs from “Visits” in that if the same visitor views the website twice, it will count as 2 visits, but only 1 site.
Kbytes
(red)
The amount of data transferred for the website in Kilobytes (kB).
Referrers A website that referred a visitor to your website.
User Agents The type of web browser visitors were using when they viewed your website.
Entry Pages The first page a visitor looked at when viewing your website.
Exit Pages The last page a visitor looked at when viewing your website.
Search Strings The search terms used to locate your website in major search engines.
Countries The country of the visitor to your website. Some may be unknown/unresolved meaning that we could not identify which country they were from.
